We have lived in this house for 22 years and have a lot of “stuff” to get rid of before our big move. I’ve been giving things away for the last year to friends, our local buy nothing site, donation, recycling, shelters, etc. Very few things seem worth the selling effort but I have sold a few things on Facebook Marketplace. Interactions have always gone well and people pick up from my house. One lady came for our desk and it did not fit in her car so I drove it to her place! 🤣

I recently had a scam attempt and it really made me upset. Started with “is this still available?”, which now I know is most likely a bot fishing attempt. After I said yes, they went onto say they want it but cannot come and get the item for a few days so they wanted to pay me now and hold the item for them. They wanted my PayPal info (email) and then said they transferred the money, can I see it? I said no and then they had me check my junk email and sure enough, there is an email from PayPal saying money was trying to go from a business account to my personal account so I must call and approve the transaction. 🤔  I then responded ‘no way am I calling’ and they said I have to since the money already came out of their account and I said no, give me cash when you pick it up, etc…they did eventually they give up trying to have me call the bogus email phone number and then quickly left the chat so I couldn’t report them.🙄🤬

This experience just made me so angry that people have to be suspicious all the time now! Why can’t we just assume goodness and best intentions?? 😔 I like people, usually.

Now I added that I will not respond to ‘is this still available’ on my listings. I have about 10 more things to post this weekend so wish me luck! And if anyone wants to buy a pool table let me know!
